There has been a buzz of different speculations as to who will portray the role of ABS-CBN upcoming remake of the hit Colombian TV series “Betty La Fea”. Just recently, the ABS-CBN management finally broke its silence and presented Bea Alonzo to the local media as the actress chosen from the roster of ABS-CBN's talented young actresses to play the said role. The original series of “Betty La Fea” was also aired in the Philippines before, via rival network GMA 7, but was dubbed in tagalog. The character's unattractive/ugly duckling trademark has inspired several international versions and has been dubbed and broadcast in many countries and has achieved record ratings in every single country. The U.S. adaptation of Betty la Fea entitled Ugly Betty, title role played by America Ferrera has received a Golden Globe and Peabody Award.
